Adopt A Shelter Dog Month: Doggie Day Out with Axel
At The Harmoning Agency, we love supporting causes that make a difference right here in our community. This October, we’re celebrating Adopt A Shelter Dog Month by partnering with the Duke Memorial Redwood Area Animal Shelter to highlight some amazing dogs who are ready to find their forever homes.
Each week, our very own Shylyn Filk will take a “Doggie Day Out” with one of the shelter pups, giving them some extra love, a fun day of adventure, and a chance to shine. Follow along all month as we share their stories, personalities, and how you can help give them a happy ending.
Meet Axel

- Breed: Husky/Lab mix

Doggie Day Out with Axel
This week, Shylyn spent the day with Axel, and it didn’t take long for him to steal her heart. The two hit the beautiful fall trails at Beaver Falls County Park, with Axel’s tail wagging the whole way.
From the moment they met, Axel was all smiles, greeting Shylyn with happy licks and tail wags like they were old friends. Once they hit the trail, his adventurous side came out. His nose was glued to the ground, taking in every fall scent. Between sniffing every leaf, flopping mid-walk for belly rubs, and debating whether a stick was a toy or a threat, Axel showed his goofy, lovable personality through and through.
“He’s such a sweet, energetic, and fun boy,” Shylyn said. “If I didn’t already have two pups (and a husband who says no more dogs), he definitely would’ve come home with me.”
Axel would make the perfect companion for an active person or family who enjoys the outdoors. He’s loyal, loving, and full of playful energy, the kind of trail buddy you’ll never get tired of having by your side.
