What Changed on Your Farm This Year?

By August, the year can look a lot different than it did when you first sat down to talk about your insurance. Maybe you bought a new piece of equipment. Maybe you added acres, started doing custom work, built a new shed, or changed how you use some of your equipment. Sometimes those changes are easy to think about. Insurance is not always one of them.

That's why this time of year is a good opportunity to ask a simple question: What has changed on your farm?

Did You Buy New Equipment?

Farm equipment is a big investment, and it's not unusual for what you own to change from one year to the next. Maybe you traded in a tractor, added an implement, or bought another piece of equipment to keep up with the work. When you add something new, it's worth making sure your insurance reflects what you actually own. Don't assume a new purchase is automatically covered the way you expect. A quick conversation can help you understand where that equipment fits into your policy.

What Changed on Your Farm This Year?

Are You Doing More Than You Were Last Year?

Farm operations change, too.

Maybe you're taking on more custom work. Maybe you're doing some hauling for others or using your equipment in ways you weren't a year ago. Those changes can create different insurance needs. The same goes for farm families who have added another business or operation alongside the farm. What you are doing today may be different from what you were doing when your policy was originally written. That's something we should know about.

What Has Changed Around the Farm?

Equipment isn't the only thing worth looking at. Maybe you've built a new shop, added a shed, made improvements to a building, or changed how you're using an existing structure.

Those changes may seem small at the time, but they can be important when it comes to your insurance. This doesn't mean every change requires a new policy or more coverage. It means it's worth talking about so you know where you stand.

Don't Wait for Something to Happen

Insurance is easy to put off when you're busy. Farmers have plenty to keep them busy this time of year, and nobody wants to spend their day thinking about insurance if they don't have to. But taking a little time for a farm insurance review before something happens can make a big difference. You don't have to know what needs to change. That's what we're here for. We can sit down with you, talk about what's different, and help you determine whether your current coverage still fits the way you're farming today.

Let's Talk About What's Changed

At Harmoning Agency, we work with farmers and the businesses that support agriculture. We know every operation is a little different, and the coverage that works for one farm may not be the right fit for another. If something has changed this year, let us know and request a farm insurance review. Maybe everything is right where it needs to be. Maybe there's something worth adjusting. Either way, a conversation can help you understand your coverage and avoid surprises later.

At Harmoning Agency, we believe you will understand what you are buying.

If it's been a while since your last farm insurance review, stop in or give us a call. We'd be happy to sit down with you and talk through what's changed.

Feel free to contact us to get started.
